Rocks of all properties are responsible
for the shaping of landforms, even the Maligne Canyon of Jasper,
Alberta. As is seen in the photograph, the structure’s surface has undergone a
number of stresses, so much so that is has folded in on itself and fractured in
other parts. Due to tensional forces continuously stressing the area, slippage
has occurred along the fault, pulling until the middle section of the Canyon has
been left vacant and gaping as a result.
