As the atmosphere works to
redistribute heat and moisture throughout the Earth’s surface, air travels from
areas of high to low concentration. Climates are controlled by intricate
reactions between these atmospheric circulation as well as movement and
properties of oceanic waters. The surface circulation model seen in this
picture is obviously idealized; hence the actual design is decidedly more multifaceted.
