Sand largely makes up the beach
seen in this picture, unlike other beaches born from the accumulation of dark igneous
rocks. The forces of aggradation have undoubtedly helped shape the structure of
the shore seen in the dated photo. Sediment
carried to the beach from streams helped form the rocks seen just behind my
siblings and me. This is not to say that particles from the physical breakdown
of greater rocks and sea cliffs are not responsible for the formation of the
minor and darker dunes. In fact, these sediments may have been carried, degraded,
by the wind only to wash onto shore in aggradation.
